Syngas DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter) is a retrofit diesel emission control system for medium-duty and light-duty on-road vehicles and will be available for purchase by vehicle and fleet operators in 2010. This system will reduce particulate matter emissions by 85%.
Syngas DPF is designed for intra-city medium duty trucks where the daily regeneration of catalytic particulate filters is impeded by low operating temperatures resulting from frequent stops or city stop/start traffic. Our syngas system initiates DPF regeneration at the low temperature of 200°C and sustains regeneration in stop/start city traffic. Our syngas system has enabled filter manufacturers to reduce platinum loadings by up to 60% resulting in significant cost reductions.
Syngas DPF is simple and reliable. It can be retrofitted onto existing trucks without changes to the engine or controls. The system operates automatically and does not require operator intervention. Fuel consumed during DPF regeneration is less than 1% of engine fuel consumption. Syngas technology has been proven in daily testing since June 2006.
This system utilizes our non-catalytic Syngas Generator to produce syngas for use in actively regenerating diesel particulate filters. The use of syngas is superior to diesel fuel for DPF regeneration because it is highly reactive and combusts at a lower temperature which translates into reduced fuel consumption during regeneration and fuel economy gains.
This product is undergoing daily field trials. If you are interested in participating in a field trial or want to learn more about this product please contact us.
